Respiratory Virus Guidance
The recommends the following prevention strategies to protect yourself and others from common respiratory viral illnesses such as COVID-19 and Flu.
- Stay up to date with immunizations for respiratory viruses
- COVID-19 vaccines can be found at your local pharmacy. The Student Health Center does not offer COVID-19 vaccines.
- Flu vaccines can be found at your local pharmacy or the Student Health Center.Ìý The Student Health Center will offer flu vaccines to students at no cost beginning in the fall; more information will be shared via the Daily Blast
- Practice good hygiene
- Cover your coughs and sneezes
- Washing or sanitize your hands often
- Clean frequently touched surfaces
- Take steps for cleaner air
- Open windows/doors and bring in fresh outside air
- Purify indoor air
- Gather outdoors
- When you have a respiratory virus:
- If you’re coughing and sneezing and feverish-whether it’s COVID-19, the flu, or any other virus-it’s best to stay home
- Use precautions to prevent spread
- Seek health care promptly for testing and/or treatment if you have risk factors for severe illness
- FREE rapid COVID -19 test kits are available at the Student Health Center and Residence Hall front desks (while supplies last)
- The Student Health Center is open from 8:00 am to 4:45pm Monday – Friday

- There is no office visit fee

- Academic Live Care is a FREE 24/7 telehealth service available to all students
What should I do if I test positive for COVID-19 and/or Flu?
- Students who test positive for COVID-19 or Flu or have symptoms and/or concerns may contact the Student Health Center (SHC) for guidance (if needed) by calling 303-273-3381
- Don’t go to class or work, stay home and return to class or work when you’re feeling better and fever free for at least 24 hours
- Take additional precautions for the next five days to avoid getting others sick, such as wearing a well-fitting mask in common spaces and keeping a distance from others
- If you choose you can order meals online for pickup in 91ÖÆƬ³§ Market
- and select the ‘sick meal’ form at the bottom.
- There are no isolation or quarantine spaces on campus. If you are local, you may consider returning home as an option to rest and recover
- Communicate with your professors via email that you are ill or have tested positive for COVID-19. Your instructors want to work with you and support you, but they need to hear from you to be able to help.

What should I do if my roommate tests positive for COVid-19 and/or flu?
- Students whose roommates test positive for COVID-19 should monitor their symptoms and may consider testing if symptomatic, however, testing is not required
- Rapid OTC COVID 19 testing kits are available in the Student Health Center and Residence Hall front desk locations (supplies are limited and will not be restocked)
- Rapid COVID 19 testing kits are also available at your local pharmacy
- Flu testing is available in the Health Center by appointment and is recommended if you are symptomatic

- Students may want to discuss with their ill roommate ways to minimize exposure by implementing CDC core prevention strategies
- Stay up to date with respiratory virus immunizations, practice respiratory and hand hygiene, take steps for cleaner air and masking
- If you become sick after exposure to COVID 19 or Flu stay home and return once you are feeling better and fever-free for at least 24 hours. If you are not symptomatic, you do not need to stay home and you do not need to mask
- Residence Life is unable to provide temporary housing for roommates of residents who are ill.
Utilizing the Student Health Center
Accessing Care
The best way to access care is to call the SHC at 303-273-3381. Once you are connected, our team will triage and provide further guidance for your care. We have expanded our capability to provide telehealth. We will offer limited in-person visits at the SHC in an effort to minimize exposure.
Getting in Touch with Your Medical Provider

Getting a Referral
The SHC can provide referrals for medical specialists. You will need to have a telehealth or in-person visit with an SHC medical provider before a referral is approved. Please call 303-273-3381 to schedule an appointment.
Prescription Refills
Check your pharmacy first and see if you have refills remaining on your current prescription. If not, have your pharmacy contact your provider or you can request a prescription refill through your medical record portal. To send a secure message, go to Trailhead > Health Portal bubble > Messages > Compose New.
You can also call the SHC at 303-273-3381. Please allow 72 business hours for prescription refills.

The Student Health Center (SHC) is open 8:00 am to 4:45 pm Monday through Friday (closed noon to 1:00 pm for lunch) and will continue to provide care for all eligible students. We also provide telehealth services to students residing in the state of Colorado. Should you have urgent medical concerns or questions regarding COVID 19 we are requesting students call 303-273-3381 during business hours.
Types of Medical Appointments
The SHC offers telehealth and in-person medical visits, prioritizing urgent/acute care visits versus primary care and routine appointments. Your concern/complaint will be triaged and a telehealth or in-person appointment scheduled as appropriate.
